Ross Bay Cemetery Victoria. One scary place to be on Halloween.

Seeing as it's Halloween, and we've been writing alot about Victoria British Columbia of late, I thought maybe I should introduce you to a great place to visit any time of the year, but if you really want to get the creeps, plan for a stroll through one of the countries oldest graveyards.

Filled with history and ghosts, the Ross Bay cemetery list of residence reads like a who's who of local folklore, Canadian Politics and exploration including including Sir James Douglas (BC’s first governor), many subsequent premiers, coal baron Robert Dunsmuir (who built Craigdarroch Castle), Sir Matthew Baillie Begbie (the "Hanging judge), Emily Carr (world-famous artist), Billy Barker (discoverer of gold at Barkerville) and Nellie Chapman (the ‘Miners’ Angel who was featured on a US postage stamp.

You can find Ross Bay Cemetery just east of Beacon Hill Park along Dallas Road in the neighborhood of Fairfield which borders along side of Oakbay.  If you're into this kind of thing, a taste of history that is, definately a stop to make on visit to Victoria.  I have included some information on the local experts below if you want to find more information on Ross Bay.  With just days until Halloween, I'm sure their phone is ringing off the hook.
